<p>Applications can be obtained at Local #112, 827 East Second Street, Jamestown, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the third Wednesday of the month during the recruitment period.</p>
<p>The committee requires that applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be 18 years old</li>
<li>Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)</li>
<li>Must have a New York State Driver&#8217;s License to operate company owned vehicles</li>
<li>Mush have reliable transportation to all work sites.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Applications are being taken for the 2009 Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program. Attached is a <a href="http://www.lininteractive.com/ny_buffalo/documents/summerapp.pdf">copy of the application</a> that must be completed and returned to the Department of Community Services, 65 Niagara Square Room 1701, Buffalo, New York 14202. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.</p>
<p>Applications can be returned Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm. The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, May 29, 2009. Those who fail to meet the application deadline will be put on a waiting list and your chances of obtaining employment will be diminished.</p>
<p>To be eligible for this program you must be a City of Buffalo resident between the ages of 14 and 21 and you must turn age 14 by May 31, 2009.</p>
<p>In order to determine your eligibility for the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program, the following items must be documented and returned with your completed application:</p>

<p>ELMIRA, NY (03/13/2009; 1638)(readMedia)&#8211; The Electricians Joint  Apprenticeship Committee of Elmira, Local 139, will conduct recruitment from  March 13, 2009 through February 12, 2010 for six electrician apprentices, State  Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.</p>
<p>Applications can be obtained at the local, 508 College Ave., Elmira, from 9  a.m. to 3 p.m., the second Friday of each month during the recruitment  period.</p>
<p>The committee requires that applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be at least 17 years old at the time of interview &#8211; 18 at the time of  indenture.</li>
<li>Have a high school or general equivalency diploma (GED) &#8211; must provide  official transcript for high school (or GED) after selection and prior to  indenture.</li>
<li>Must show evidence of successful completion of one year of high school  algebra or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade after  selection and prior to indenture.</li>
<li>Must provide results of a physical examination and a drug test at the  sponsor&#8217;s expense after selection and prior to indenture.</li>
<li>Must submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience after  selection and prior to indenture to receive consideration for such training  and/or experience.</li>
<li>Must qualify for the interview using the electrical trade&#8217;s aptitude test  developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.</li>
<li>Must have reliable transportation to and from work sites and classroom  training.</li>
<li>Have a valid driver&#8217;s license &#8211; proof required after selection and prior to  indenture.</li>
<li>Must be a resident of the union&#8217;s jurisdiction for at least six months &#8212;  all of Chemung and Steuben Counties; Townships of Allen, Almond, Alfred,  Andover, Birdsall, Burns, Granger, Grove, Hume, Independence, Ward, Wellsville,  West Almond, and Willing and that portion of Amity, Angelica, Belfast, Caneadea  and Scio east of the Genesee River located in Allegany County; Townships of Dix,  Montour, Orange, Reading and Tyrone located in Schuyler County; and Townships of  Barton and Nichols located in Tioga County.</li>

<p>Painters Recruit Apprentices</p>
<p>ROCHESTER, NY (03/04/2009; 1147)(readMedia)&#8211; The Finishing Trades Institute  of Western and Central New York will conduct recruitment from March 3, 2009  through January 6, 2010 for three painter, decorator, paperhanger apprentices;  three glazier apprentices and three drywall taper apprentices State Labor  Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.</p>
<p>Applications can be obtained from IUPAT, District Council #4, 585 Aero Drive,  Cheektowaga; 219 Lyons Road, Geneva on the first Tuesday of each month during  the recruitment period from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and 39 Saginaw Drive, Suite 16,  Rochester from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. but will only be accepted at the open  recruitment at this location on the first Wednesday of each month from 4 p.m. to  6 p.m. Applications may also be picked up from the local Department of Labor  office and can only be accepted at the open recruitments listed above.</p>
<p>The committee requires that applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be at least 17 years old.</li>
<li>Have a high school or general equivalency diploma.</li>
<li>Be physically able to perform the work required as determined by applicant  written attestation. Physical examination including drug screening, may be  required at time of indenture. Costs for medical exam, if required, are at the  expense of the sponsor.</li>
<li>Legally able to work in the United States.</li>
<li>Physical demands of the job require work above ground level. Some work may  be 35 feet or higher above ground level.</li>
<li>Have a valid NYS driver&#8217;s license in order to operate company vehicles on  public highways.</li>
<li>Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites throughout central  New York and related instruction in Geneva at one week intervals.</li>
</ul>

<p>ORCHARD PARK, NY (03/04/2009; 1117)(readMedia)&#8211; The Joint Apprenticeship  Committee for the Plumbers and Steamfitters of Western New York, Local 22 (Zones  A, B, and C), will conduct recruitment from March 3, 2009 through February 2,  2010 for three plumber and three steamfitter apprentices, State Labor  Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.</p>
<p>Applications can be obtained from 9 a.m. to noon, at the local, 3651  California Road, Orchard Park, the first Tuesday of each month. Applications  will also be available during normal business hours at the NYS Department of  Labor offices in Jamestown, Olean, Albion and Dunkirk during business hours.</p>
<p>The committee requires that applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be at least 18 years old.</li>
<li>Have a high school or general equivalency diploma recognized by local school  authorities.</li>
<li>Attest that he/she can physically perform work duties.</li>
<li>Must have valid NYS driving privileges in order to operate company vehicles.</li>
<li>Must be a resident of the local&#8217;s geographic jurisdiction for one year (Zone  A &#8212; Erie and Wyoming Counties; and Alabama, Oakfield, Elba, Pembroke, Batavia,  Darien and Alexander in Genesee County: Zone B &#8212; Niagara County; and Yates,  Ridgeway and Shelby in Orleans County: Zone C &#8212; Cattaraugus and Chautauqua  Counties; and Allen, Alma, Amity, Angelica, Belfast, Bolivar, Caneadea,  Centerville, Clarksville, Cuba, Friendship, Genesee, Granger, Hume, New Hudson,  Rushford, Scio and Wirt in Allegany County).</li>
<li>Must take and pass a drug test at the union&#8217;s expense after selection as an  apprentice.</li>
<li>Must pass a qualifying battery basic &#8220;WORK KEYS&#8221; assessment test &#8211; applied  math and reading.</li>
</ul>

<p>Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet  standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs  cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national  origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are  encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of  programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of  women and minorities.</p>

<p>Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Recruit Apprentices</p>
<p>BUFFALO, NY (03/04/2009; 1130)(readMedia)&#8211; The Bricklayers and Allied  Craftworkers, Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, Local 3 (Buffalo  Chapter), will conduct apprentice recruitment from March 3 through December 1,  2009 for two bricklayer/mason apprentices, two tile setter apprentices and two  pointer/caulker/cleaner apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith  announced today.</p>
<p>Applications will be available at the local, 1175 William Street, Buffalo,  from 8 a.m. to noon, the first Tuesday of each month during the recruitment  period.</p>
<p>The committee requires that applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be at least 18 years old.</li>
<li>Have a minimum of tenth grade education.</li>
<li>Be physically able to perform the work required. Sponsor drug testing done  at the committee&#8217;s expense at the time of indenture.</li>
<li>Must be a resident of Allegany, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Orleans, Niagara,  Cattaraugus or Chautauqua counties.</li>
<li>Have a reliable means of transportation for work and training.</li>
<li>Pay a $5.00 application fee.</li>
<li>All applications must be received/postmarked no later than December 1, 2009.</li>
</ul>
