2011: A Hall of Fame Year

I’m looking back on the best night of 2011 for me. As the calendar turns, here are pictures I’ve been meaning to post since September.

On September 22, 2011, I had the honor of being inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame.  My husband, Mike, and my son, Michael, shared the wonderful experience with me.

I was so happy to have my youngest son, Michael, at the ceremony. His older brother, Matt, attends law school in Washington, D.C., and was unable to attend.

I began my induction speech by thanking my husband and two sons for their sacrifices in supporting my 32 years in broadcast news.

Longtime co-worker Chief Meteorologist Don Paul was one of many colleagues in the audience. News 4 Sports Director John Murphy also came between newscasts on this Thursday night.

I was so happy that News 4 Technical Director Mickey Clemons and his wife, Ruth, attended the ceremony. Mickey and I have worked together for more than 28 years.

Don Angelo, one of the founders of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association, was inducted into the Hall of Fame after more than 44 years in all aspects of broadcasting.

Mary Pinto, a longtime volunteer at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, was one of several dear friends who attended the ceremony. In fact, Mary gave me the necklace I was wearing that night!

Four friends and Broadcast Hall of Famers: Vic Baker, me, Kevin O'Connell and Ann Deckop. Kevin and I were actually news co-anchors when he worked at Channel 4. Ann was assistant to the Channel 4 General Manager for decades. She began working for WBEN-TV when it was broadcasting from the Statler Towers.
