Buffalo Memories of McNair
The sudden death of Steve McNair likely has Bills fans thinking of one game he played against Buffalo…the 1999 playoff game known as the Music City Miracle. McNair was just emerging as the leader of the Titans. He would eventually lead them to that season’s Super Bowl. But in the playoff game at Nashville, the Bills #1 ranked defense bottled him up pretty good. McNair was 13/24 for just 76 yards passing. He ran six times for 19 yards, scoring a touchdown on a short QB keeper. It was the only offensive TD of the game for the Titans.
McNair played three other games against the Bills, including one with the Ravens in 2006. He won two of those three, losing only the Music City Miracle rematch at the Ralph to start the 2000 season.
McNair was friendly with a number of Bills players, most notably Eric Moulds. They both grew up in Mississippi.
McNair’s older brother, Fred, played for the Buffalo Destroyers of the Arena Football League.
