TO on twitter-This is news?

I know that Terrell Owens is colorful, controversial, and a favorite of ESPN.  But the latest attempt to paint him as a malcontent and trouble maker I think has gone too far.

Monday, ESPN Sportscenter included a news item about Owens Twitter message to a fan, who sent the Bills WR A message saying he was not happy  Owens was no longer with the Cowboys.  TO’s response:

“neither ws i, blame the OC & romo!! but i’m happy 2 b where i am but i miss the other guys tht were & r true teammates!!”
The world wide leader in sports turned this innocuous comment into a news story about TO, saying it further demonstrated his propensity to instigate dissension and backstab coaches and teammates.
Let me see if I have this straight.  Owens was cut by the Cowboys, and he says the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback were probably not happy with him, precipitating the move.  Where’s the story?  What’s the big deal?
And more importantly, how does it relate to the Buffalo Bills?  ESPN pundits and some other sportswriters have used Owens’ “tweet” to issue a warning to Trent Edwards and the Bills, something to the effect of “watch your back.”
Make no mistake about it–the Bills know exactly what they’re getting with Owens.  They know his history, and his need for attention.  I guess what I didn’t realize, was how every innocent comment and statement issued by TO would be scrutinized and analyzed by ESPN, for evidence of his intentions.
For the record, I’m inclined to let the TO situation play out–see how much he can contribute to an offense in desperate need of some points and brace myself for occasional eruptions.  And I have a feeling Trent Edwards can handle himself just fine.

OK, let’s throw this back at you, Murph. Yesterday, Channel 4 ran a story about the “Getcha popcorn ready” t-shirts being printed to be sold in Tops and Wegmans.

To use your questions — Where’s the story? What’s the big deal? And how about, who gets the money from the sale of the shirts??

I think Channel 4 is just as guilty of making something out of a nothing story only because it relates to…….Terrell Owens. When his PR queens call, please hang up the phone. He’ll be gone in less than a year.

    I don’t disagree with you.
