Rumblings from the Bills

Some interesting rumblings coming from the Buffalo Bills these days.  Former All Pro guard Ruben Brown mentioned on his WECK Radio show Monday night that agent Bus Cook was at One Bills Drive, talking to the Bills.  Cook is the agent for disgruntled Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler, who formally requested a trade on Monday.

But what makes more sense, is that Cook is talking to the Bills about another one of his clients–TE Tony Scheffler (above left).  Scheffler, like Cutler, is also ready to move on from the Broncos, and there were reports a few days ago that Denver was ready to give Cook authority to scout out the trade landscape.

Buffalo would be  a great fit for the talented pass-catching tight end.  At 6-5, Scheffler would be an outstanding downfield target for Trent Edwards, and he would fill a serious void in the Bills offensive attack.  The only viable tight ends on the Buffalo roster right now are the two Dereks, Schouman and Fine.  Scheffler would immediately become a starter and an important  cog in the Buffalo offense.

What would it take to get Scheffler from the Broncos?  Most likely a draft pick, maybe as high as a 3rd rounder.  I’d make the deal in a second.

What do you think?  Would Scheffler fit in with the Bills offensive plans?  Would you trade away draft picks to get him?

Cook is working a deal for Ruben Brown to come out of retirement and play for the Bills again. On a more serious note, If the Bills could get Sheffler it would free up a draft pick. Buffalo could draft a DE in the 1st and a LB or “O” linemen in the 2nd. If there is a trade in the works it would being very beneficial as far as the draft is concerned. However, There are glaring needs still remaining on the “D” side of the team. The Bills insist on playing that “TAMPA 2″. If they wish to compete with the rest of the East then they had better get some big aggressive DT’s and LB’s. Also, Get your QB practicing against 3-4 schemes and lean how to throw the ball in the wind / winter.

Greetings from Colorado. Buzz Crook has been stirring the pot on Cutler and also Sheffler. Sheff was drafted in the second round, don’t think you’d get him for a third. By the way he’s been a regular on the injury report. Broke his foot two seasons ago and has had problems with it last year. Hes a good receiver on the field but his blocking needs work( lots of work).

You say that he was drafted in the second and the Bills wouldn’t get him for a third rounder. Then you speak of injury problems. Hate to tell you but Matt Cassell was traded for a 2nd rounder (Julius Peppers might get traded for that pick) and Jeremy Shockey was traded for a 4th rounder. Sheffler could potentially had for a 4th considering he wants out. 3rd would be a lock.

If the bills can get this guy from Denver, I think it would be great. Probably would have to give up a forth rounder, regardless of what the guy from Denver says. Of course a trade of Edwards for Cutler wouldn’t be bad.

Scheffler is a decent TE who would be great fit in buffalo. But I would be more interested to see if some how we could put Julius pepper in the mix. We need a quality pass rusher more then we do a TE. Derek fine will be just FINE with Schouman complimenting. Our pass rush was so bad especially late in the season when we needed it. So let us be happy that he hasn”t signed with New England yet and lets put some money on the table and a draft pick and get this guy

I would love to see Cutler in Buffalo… how about Edwards and our 1st for Cutler!?! With TO on board, this would be a bold move!!!

  7. DOG74 says:

I think the Bills should trade Edwards, JP and anything else the Bronco want for both Cutler and Sheffler……

  8. Paul Ryan says:

I think the Bills should move to ANYWHERE besides Buffalo so we don’t have to listen about that STUPID team and IDIOT fans anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is 80,000 strong and has a IQ of 15? Bills Fans

    R. Paterson makes a salient point, what with all the drunken and disorderly arrests from Ralph Wilson stadium on gameday it’s no wonder why Ralph Wilson even puts up with a bunch of drunken and obscene mostly younger and union-membership crowd, some of them simply don’t have the brains to successfully comb their hair or brush their teeth.
