Fitzpatrick and Edwards Connected
Friday, the Bills signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to be Trent Edwards backup. Fitzpatrick is a Harvard grad, who played with the Rams and Bengals. There’s an interesting connection between the two Bills quarterbacks. It was pointed out by Mike Reiss in Sunday’s edition of the Boston Globe:
The Bills targeted Ryan Fitzpatrick to be their No. 2 quarterback, and it turns out Fitzpatrick already has a solid connection with Buffalo starter Trent Edwards. When Fitzpatrick was leading Harvard’s offense from 2001-04, one of his favorite targets was receiver Brian Edwards (no relation), who had rewritten the high school record books in Los Gatos, Calif. . . . with Trent Edwards as his quarterback.
I was thinking about this. How about the brainpower of the Bills quarterback position. Fitzpatrick is from Harvard, Edwards is from Stanford. Third string quarterback Gibran Hamden is an Indiana grad who’s father is a nuclear engineer. Offensive Coordinator Turk Schonert is also a Stanford grad. Even new center Geoff Hangartner reportedly posted one of the highest scores ever on the Wonderlic exam give at the Scouting Combine. Smarts don’t always equal football talent, but at at thinking-man’s position, the Bills are ready.

“at at thinking-man’s position, the Bills are ready.”
Ready for what, Paul?
Ready for lame inexperienced QB play when fragile Trent inevitably gets injured?
Ready for no veteran tutoring of Trent?
There were several better choices for backup QB. All you have to blog about this decision is the meanlingless coincidence that they’ve both thrown to the same receiver? Lame.
