Don’t Fear Sabres Fans. Lalime is Here.
I’m not the hockey expert here at News 4 Sports. I leave that to Robin Adams. But I had the chance to cover the Sabres first practice since the injury to Ryan Miller. I came out of there thinking that the Sabres may be all right with Patrick Lalime taking over for Miller for what maybe the next month. There a few reasons why.
Lalime is a veteran who has been through this before. He replaced an injured Nikolai Khabibulin last year in Chicago, and did a solid job. He’s been a starter in the NHL. He has over 200 career wins. Look beyond the 2-7-2 record this season. That’s the product of sporadic starts. Now, he gets to find a rhythm and knows he’ll be starting. He talked about how much that helps a goalie.
If Lalime can keep the Sabres around .500 while Miller is gone, that should be enough to keep them in the playoff race. Right now, it doesn’t look like there’s any team ready to pull away from the Sabres or anybody else.
I know that asking this Sabres team to survive without Miller and Vanek, its two most important players, is a lot. But give Lalime a chance Sabres fans. Don’t go crazy with panic like it seems you already have. You at least have a veteran who knows how to win in nets. It could be worse. It could be last year, and Jocelyn Thibeault.

Put the delime in da net at let him shake it all up!
conklin, thibeault, now lalime. i guess i’m not as optimistic as everyone else.
I think the sabres will be fine without Miller. I believe that they will pull together to get through the nexr month or so and then they will be ready for the playoffs
